The design concept is rooted in intentional family living and a strong connection to the land. With soft eastern light and natural privacy from the pines, the layout was envisioned around expansive east-facing windows and a 12' patio door to bring in warm morning light and make the interior feel connected to the outdoors — a signature approach in our design-build process.
While the footprint remains modest, the slab-on-grade foundation with a generous crawl space reflects a North Dakota–appropriate building strategy: high performance, efficiency, and resilience for year-round living.
Inside, the plan incorporates flexible family-focused spaces:
- A main-level den envisioned as both an office and guest space with a Murphy bed.
- A large upper bonus room designed for kids, hobbies, or multi-use gathering space.
- All bedrooms located upstairs for closeness and routine, with the primary suite intentionally placed for morning light and quiet views, including a soaking tub beneath a picture window.
Material + Finish Intent
Natural materials were central to the concept for an organic natural feel — with planned warm neutral cabinetry, natural wood accents, and soft stone-inspired tones. Every finish ties back to the concept: calm, modern, durable, and family-friendly.
Built-ins were also part of the early design vision — a reading bench at the stair landing, integrated desks, and functional storage — reinforcing the design-build philosophy of blending beauty with purposeful living.
Performance Intent
Truebuild Homes’ design-build approach always includes a wellness and performance lens. Here, the concept incorporates:
- Radiant in-floor heat for consistent comfort
- ERV system for healthy indoor air quality
- A large pantry and mudroom placed strategically for functional family organization
